    I Want to Dye my Hair Green

    Many of my friends have dyed their hair different colors.

    I don't mean normal hair colors like brown or black.

    My friends have dyed their hair orange, purple and blue.

    I told my mother that I would like to dye my hair green.

    I explained to my mother that I would only use food coloring.

    The green would not last forever.

    My mother said that dyeing your hair was a silly fad.

    She said that I would not look good with green hair.

    I said that if I couldn't dye my hair green, maybe I could get a nose ring.

    My mother said "no."

    I said that maybe a tattoo on my arm would be nice.

    My mother said "no way."

    My mother said that she did some crazy things when she was a young girl.

    She said that she used to iron her hair to make it straight.

    That sounds quite boring to me.

    My friend Joan came over.

    Her hair is dyed bright pink.

    My father said "nice hair, Joan."

    I don't think that he really meant it.

    My mother says that when I am an adult I can dye my hair whatever crazy color I like, but for now she would like me to leave my hair its natural color.

    I tried to tell her that all my friends were doing it.

    My mother asked, "if all your friends were jumping off a cliff, would you do it too?"

    I said "no."

    I think I'll have to wait to have green hair, but maybe by the time I'm old enough to dye my hair green, I won't want it that color.

    My mother says that fads change all the time.

    One day something might be popular, and the next day it's not in style at all.

    I'll just have to live without green hair for now.

    I wonder what the fad will be next month.

    Tôi muốn nhuộm tóc màu xanh

    Nhiều bạn bè của tôi nhuộm tóc bằng rất nhiều màu khác nhau.

    Ý tôi không phải là những màu tóc bình thường như màu nâu hay đen.

    Bạn tôi nhuộm tóc màu cam, màu tím và màu xanh da trời.

    Tôi bảo mẹ là tôi muốn nhuộm tóc màu xanh lá cây.

    Tôi giải thích với mẹ rằng tôi chỉ sử dụng màu của thực phẩm thôi.

    Màu xanh lá cây sẽ không bền màu lâu đâu.

    Mẹ tôi bảo là nhuộm tóc là một việc thật dở hơi.

    Mẹ bảo tôi sẽ chẳng đẹp đẽ gì khi nhuộm tóc màu xanh lá cây.

    Tôi bảo mẹ là nếu tôi không được nhuộm tóc màu xanh lá cây, có thể tôi sẽ mua một chiếc khuyên đeo ở mũi.

    Mẹ tôi bảo “Không”.

    Tôi nói là hay tôi sẽ xăm hình ở cánh tay, có thể như thế sẽ đẹp.

    Mẹ tôi bảo “Không”.

    Mẹ tôi bảo là ngày còn trẻ mẹ tôi đã từng làm những điều điên rồ.

    Mẹ bảo là mẹ đã từng là tóc để làm tóc thẳng ra.

    Điều đó thật là tẻ nhạt đối với tôi.

    Joan, bạn tôi tới chơi.

    Bạn ấy nhuộm tóc màu hồng nhạt.

    Bố tôi bảo “Tóc đẹp đấy Joan ạ”.

    Tôi không nghĩ là bố tôi nói thật.

    Mẹ tôi bảo khi tôi lớn tôi có thể nhuộm tóc bất cứ màu điên rồ nào miễn tôi thích, nhưng đến tận bây giờ bà vẫn muốn tôi để tóc theo màu tự nhiên.

    Tôi đã cố gắng nói với bà rằng tất cả bạn bè của tôi đều đã nhuộm rồi.

    Mẹ tôi hỏi “Nếu các bạn của con nhảy từ trên vách đá xuống thi con cũng nhảy theo hả?”

    Tôi bảo “Không”.

    Tôi nghĩ là tôi sẽ phải chờ đến lúc có mái tóc màu xanh lá cây, nhưng có khi đến lúc tôi đủ tuổi để nhuộm màu xanh lá cây, thì tôi chẳng còn muốn nhuộm màu đó nữa.

    Mẹ tôi bảo những kiểu mốt kỳ cục như thế sẽ thay đổi luôn tục.

    Hôm nay có thể cái này đang rất được ưa chuộng, nhưng chỉ ngày mai thôi nó đã bị lỗi thời rồi.

    Tôi sẽ phải sống mà không được nhuộm tóc màu xanh lá cây.

    Tôi đang tự hỏi không biết kiểu mốt của tháng sau sẽ là gì đây.
